From preschool through graduation, you can shape your kids’ future by giving them the tools they need to succeed — and Bastrop’s education scene is ready to support you in doing just that. No matter their age or even if your kids aren’t school-aged yet, you can plan each step of their journey now by choosing the best places for them to grow, prosper, and live. Read on to learn more about the education opportunities for your kiddos when they call Bastrop home.

Bastrop ISD and Colony Oaks Elementary

Bastrop ISD is a highly acclaimed education system focused on your kids’ future. They strive to prepare every student for life’s opportunities and challenges so they’re ready to take on the future and make positive contributions to their families, communities, and work. Elementary-aged kids can attend school right here in The Colony, too! Colony Oaks Elementary School is located on Sam Houston near the 969 Community Entrance. The school offers a variety of programs like Social Emotional Learning, which helps kids reconnect with teachers after extended breaks like the holiday season that just passed.

Compass Rose Charter School

You can also choose a tuition-free public charter school to help your kids learn and grow. Compass Rose Public Schools serve pre-K through 12th grade in several cities, including the Harvest Campus in Bastrop. This campus provides kids with hands-on learning and connects to successful agriculture programs in the area so students can experience science in the real world. They get hands-on education with animals, the community garden, and area farms to learn about agriculture and develop their character at the same time. And, as a bonus, they’ll transport your kids free from the bus stops throughout the city!

Bastrop Montessori

If you want to start your little ones with a more hands-on education, consider sending them to the Bastrop Montessori school, where they’ll learn through wonder and discovery. Kids from 12 months to elementary age can enroll in classes tailored to their learning styles and needs. The teachers, called Montessori Guides, learn about each child and design lessons based on their natural curiosity and love of learning. Children can learn through sensory experiences and traditional methods to broaden their understanding of practical life, language, math, world cultures, art, and music.

Little Sheep Learning Center

To start your kids off with a faith-based education, consider Little Sheep Learning Center. The preschool is a ministry of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and teaches kids about faith while preparing them for kindergarten and elementary school. They will help your children develop Christian character and faith in God through classroom instruction. They also nurture a close working relationship with parents so you get to participate in your kids’ learning.

When you live in The Colony, your kids will get an excellent education close to home. Our onsite elementary school, Colony Oaks Elementary School, is OPEN, and you can be part of a growing community where your kiddos can explore, learn, and grow in a beautiful place.
